Aaron got his start in this miniature hobby back in the 1980s when he purchased his first pewter miniature, a Half-Orc Fighter by Ral Partha. Soon after, he was trying to figure out ways to paint these miniatures. When he discovered White Dwarf magazine and the world of Warhammer, he fell in love with the darkness and that passion has continued to this day.
Starting in this hobby long before Youtube tutorials, learning to paint with less than ideal tools and mediums, has reinforced the want to share time saving or skill sharpening techniques with fellow hobbyists.
Seeing so many great miniatures from friends or at events, and then witnessing the struggle people have trying to document their own creations has motivated him to help others show the world their work with high quality photos.

"I started working with Aaron in Oct. 2025. Originally it was to get some targeted advice on a squad I had just painted and then after chatting and hearing he offered coach services, I went all in. My goal was to win best painted at a GT in about 3 months time... with an army that was in boxes at the time. We work-shopped colors, put together an inspiration board, and got to work. I grew so much with 1:1 coaching in person and virtually. Aaron is just such a wealth of knowledge and perspective. From simple skills, like improving how I thought and placed edge highlights, to advanced skills like reductive highlighting with enamel washes he taught, coached, and pushed me to be better. To the point where I took Best Painted in Xenos Super Faction at an 86 person GT. If you are looking for someone who will help you improve your painting or even think about your skills in a different light I cannot recommend Exarch Studios enough."
